Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults. Waldorf Knoll Academy has the Upper School Student Council which represents the upper school only and the Lower School Student Council which represents the lower school only. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership qualities by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.
The function of the student council is based upon parliamentary procedures. Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the student body president. Any student that is interested in leadership, organizational behavior, event planning or becoming more involved in the school is welcome to campaign.
Each class will hold an election at the beginning of the autumn term of each school year. Each class will have at least two candidates that will campaign to be the student council representative for their class. Students will be giving an opportunity to campaign before election and the student with highest vote will be the class student council.
The Student Council President and Vice President for Lower School will be elected from year 6.
The Student Council President and Vice President for Upper School will be elected from year 11.
